Resuming after a rare week 3 cancellation due to unfavorable weather, the 2023/2024 eGolf Tour relocated to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Links for the first round of Week 4, the first Major Event of the 2023/2024 season.
France’s Gary Stal, a previous champion in the Emirate during the 2015 HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship, followed in the footsteps of his countryman Joel Stalter’s success in week 2 of the Tour. Stal surged ahead in the opening round, carding a remarkable seven-under-par 65, securing a notable four-shot lead heading into round 2.
Back at the Els Club for the second round, Stal’s impressive form persisted, delivering a remarkable six-under-par 66 for a total of 13 under par across two days, securing a commanding seven-shot victory over week two’s champion Joel Stalter.
The Commissioner, Khaled Samawi, lauded Stal’s exceptional performance, stating, “Gary showcased some of the Tour’s finest scoring over the past two days. With challenging course setups featuring back tees and tight pins, his game was in top form. I foresee Gary’s outstanding scoring as a preview of what’s to come as we transition into the second month of the Tour, with expectations of expanded fields during the festive season.”
