Round 8 was the Second Major of the 2023/2024 eGolf Tour season, coupled with the High Rollers Den, who joined the eGolf Tour participants for Round 2 at the Els Club Dubai.
Week 7 victor Thomas Detry joined the field as they travelled to Yas Links, Abu Dhabi for Round 1 of the Second Major. Detry showcased brilliance, shooting a sublime 8 under par 64, which included a 6 under par stretch in 5 holes, with 4 birdies and an eagle on the par 5 11th at the immaculate Yas Links layout.
Dean Cheesley, CEO of eGolf, Detry‘s partner in the matches for the day remarked after the round “His run from the 7th to the 11th holes was some of the most impressive golf I’ve ever witnessed. He just seemed to be in cruise mode, making it look easy. Needless to say I was delighted to be his partner today”.
Round 2 commenced with Detry holding a 4 stroke lead over Germany’s Dominic Foos. Foos followed up his 4 under par first round total with a 3 under par 69 for a 7 under par total over the two days to finish 3 behind Detry who backed up with a 2 under par 70 to take the Second Major of the 2023/2024 eGolf Tour and collect 2,000 Order of Merit points. Special mention to Joel Stalter who the low round six under par 66 of the day
After more than a month’s stint in the desert of testing and fine tuning over the off-season, Detry now heads off to the US to commence his 2024 PGA Tour season, and the Commissioner, Khaled Samawi, the Lion’s Den and the participants of the eGolf Tour thank him for his comradery at the Lion’s Den and wish him all the best for the PGA Tour season ahead.
